About Team LMR

Team LMR has extensive experience including (but not limited to):

Engineering:

Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Control Systems, Robotics, Propulsion, Power, Chemical, Industrial, Systems

Scientific:

Physics, Applied Mathematics/Numerical Methods

Industry:

Members have extensive technical and managerial experience, including high responsibility positions such as Lead Engineer and Technical Director. Experience with projects ranging from below 100k to 4+ billion.

Professional experience includes work with two NASA centers, including work on simulation software (Ames) and an active spacecraft mission (JPL, Cassini), in senior and top-rung staff engineering capacities. Such work involved the attitude and articulation control systems, namely in the flight software and fault protection areas (including development and analysis). Such also included participation in the investigation, development, and implementation of a novel “energy-based” burn algorithm for Cassini's Saturn Orbital Insertion; investigation and early detection of potential mission critical issues that could threaten the spacecraft prior to and during its tour at Saturn, and development of closed-loop emulation systems for mission critical analysis. Responsibilities also included the propulsion module subsystems, stellar reference unit/star tracking algorithms, configuration and hardware managers. Several awards earned (including monetary) for multiple contributions including the development of a critical emulation system which performed simulated, closed-loop testing of flight sequences along with automated fault injection and hardware emulation.

Members of team LMR have worked with a variety of additional firms, in several professional fields and capacities (both as contractor/consultant and employee) including Lead Engineer/Scientist at Rockwell Collins (as a consultant for Boeing), Senior Engineer/Lead AI Engineer at Dreamworks SKG Interactive (now Electronic Arts), Technical Director at Crystal Dynamics, Senior Engineer with Symantec Corporation, and several others.

Experience includes extensive hardware and software development, and significant work with embedded systems, control systems, robotics, and propulsion systems. LMR also possess managerial experience to the Director level.

Team LMR has constructed solid, liquid, and hybrid engines, advanced gas-dynamic devices, alternative propulsion systems, advanced energy technology, cutting-edge weapons systems, advanced robotics and control systems, communications systems, and considerably more...

History

We recognized, through intensive study, that the most optimal (and by far the most beneficial) direction towards rapid, societally-conscious progress is a completely unregulated free-market and full private development of all societal structures (including, but not limited to all products and services); such systems are the only known socio-economic constructs which, by their fundamental modes of existence, inherently meet the ever changing societal demands while preserving the humanistic necessities of free thought and liberty.

Our core philosophies, coupled with a diverse background in scientific/engineering disciplines and direct experience, creates a team that is truly capable of turning today's fiction into tomorrow's facts.

The N-Prize was a catalyst for Team LMR. A seemingly impossible endeavor, but one which we have the capability to accomplish. Our efforts are once again directed towards the heavens... and with them, a tremendously worthwhile goal and a very important place in history.

R&D Philosophy

Communication is always key to success - especially within development teams creating incredibly diverse and difficult projects.

An “Army of One,” for instance, has obvious communication advantages. Systems engineering is smooth as there is no guesswork as to the integration of functional units. Design iteration is a natural and expedient process.

The development of an engineering project is both an art and a science, and the resources must be proportional and adequate for the task. How many people could have been thrown at the Mona Lisa to “improve it" or “speed it up?”

Contrary to popular thought, “more people” and “more money” does not equal a successful project -- most often, it equates to an expensive logistical nightmare.

The smallest capable team is often the most optimized team. ~Sage

Ideological Culture

We reject a culture of ant-like drones. People are individuals both inside and outside of any collective – this is what brings forth cultural strength and desire for new thought. But, society is hugely important as it often forms the basis of our interactions and motivations.

Nothing is known to be impossible because no one has proved to possess the knowledge of “all,” which would be required to truly know impossibility. At such a point, clearly the quest for “one's” knowledge would cease because such “all” would be known by the “one.” However, it is certainly unknown if “all” can be known; and it is certainly understood that “all” is not presently known. Such knowledge would require complete and absolute determinism, a state that by its fundamental concept alone is in mutual exclusivity to the very existence of the universe itself.

The quest of knowledge is tantamount to all we do because we simply don't know what we don't know; we have no gage of our limits or extent of understanding. To put this into perspective, how much can we know of such a vast universe, when we are so incredibly ignorant as to not even know if there is life existent on our nearest neighboring planet? It is truly amazing.

Our complete ignorance of the universe in which we live is as mind-bogglingly astonishing as the wonderment of the universe itself. We must continuously improve such knowledge in order to better our existence at all levels, and to greatly enrich our capacity for, and the discovery of, true enjoyment. Team LMR holds this as a goal.
