N-Prize
2008-10-20 01:04LMR is proud to announce our entry into the N-Prize competition.
The N-Prize puts forth a nearly impossible task:
Send a 9.99g-19.99g satellite into orbit -- it must be proven to complete at least 9 orbits. Launch cost (minus ground facilities) must be under £999.99. The first person to accomplish this before 19:19:09 (GMT) September 19, 2011, is the victor – and with it, an important claim to history...
Now, we've all heard the old adage: “faster, cheaper, better – pick any two.” This prize, and the “spirit” of this prize, asks for all three: unprecedented speed, unprecedented cost, and unprecedented capability – no small launcher currently exists that can do all this.
LMR plans to demonstrate how it can be done – by actually doing it.
It must be noted that we have serious competition. Several exceptional teams have stepped up to vie for the prize; the added pressure making the task all the more difficult. To those gallant N-Prize teams, LMR sends our best regards and respect. But alas, as you all must expect in such fierce competition, we certainly do intend to prevail...
With that said, good luck!
